NAN CONGRATULATES NADF AWARD RECIPIENTS
TIMMINS, ON (October 20): Nishnawbe Aski Nation (NAN) Grand Chief Alvin Fiddler and Deputy Grand Chief Jason Smallboy, on behalf of the NAN Executive Council, congratulates the accomplishments of the Aboriginal business community honoured at the 26th Annual Nishnawbe Aski Development Fund Business Awards in Timmins last night.
“This annual ceremony has grown to become a very significant event celebrated across NAN territory, showcasing the success of our leaders, businesses and organizations. The accomplishments we celebrate this evening are creating opportunities for our people to learn, grow, find success and live self-sustaining lives,” said Grand Chief Alvin Fiddler. “These award recipients have overcome many obstacles to accomplish their goals and we are proud of their accomplishments and contributions to the development of our Nation. We recognize their achievements and wish them continued success.”
“These leaders have shown knowledge and determination as they continue to move forward in economic development and continue to create business opportunities for our First Nations,” said Deputy Grand Chief Jason Smallboy who attended the awards reception in Timmins last night. “The recipients are role models and an inspiration for future entrepreneurs.”
Award recipients include:
- Business of the Year- Jason Okimaw
- Corporation of the Year- Creewest GP
- Partnership of the Year- Paul Giles and Melissa Hardy-Giles
- Business Man of the Year- Corey Wesley
- Business Woman of the Year- Sandi Boucher
- Youth Entrepreneur of the Year- Kris Ratte
Fiddler also acknowledged the leadership and staff of NADF for their outstanding work nurturing the growth and success of NAN entrepreneurs, businesses and organizations for 26 years.
