NAN 2012 Special Chief's Assembly - The three day Chief's Assembly from November 13-15 included discussions on a number of topics such NAN’s direction related to Canada and Ontario our treaty partners, wealth creation, economic and resource development in the North, and essential family and community issues such as winter roads, policing, and prescription drug abuse.

Hounouring Former Leaders - Nishnabwe Aski Nation honoured former Grand Chief's Chris Cromarty and Frank Beardy with a ceremony at the 2012 Special Chief's Assembly on November 14.

NAN 2012 Day of Prayer - The NAN Day of Prayer on November 14, started with the Grand Chief's Breakfast at the Novermber 2012  Chiets Assembly, contunued with a live webcast from the Nishnabe Aski Nation Thunder Bay office and completed with services at Dennis Franklin Cromarty High School in the evening.

Matawa Back to our Roots - The Matawa Back to our Roots III Gathering was held Novermber 6-8 in Neskantaga First Nation and focused on combatting prescription drug abuse at the community level.

Sudbury Friendship Centre - NAN Grand Chief dropped in on the Sudbury Friendship Centre in November to visit with staff and learn about some of the programs being delivered there.

 2012 Keewaywin Award Winners - On August15, 2012, the 2012 winners were announced for the Annual Keewaywin Awards in Kashechewan First Nation.

NAN Finance Barbeque - On July 4, 2012, NAN staff held a barbeque at the finance office in Fort William First Nation.

38th Annual All Ontario Chiefs Conference - On June 26, 27 and 28, 2012, Former Grand Chief of Nishnawbe Aski Nation (NAN), Stan Beardy, was elected as Ontario Regional Chief through a traditional stand up election ceremony at the 38th All Ontario Chiefs Conference.

National Aboriginal Day Gospel Concert - On June 21, 2012, following the National Aboriginal Day event at the Marina Park, Grand Chief Stan Beardy attends a gospel concert that took place at the Heritage Building on the Canadian Lakehead Exhibition (CLE) grounds in Thunder Bay. Various gospel artists from around the region performed at the gospel concert.

National Aboriginal Day - On June 21, 2012, Grand Chief Stan Beardy spoke at the National Aboriginal Day event, which took place at the Marina Park in Thunder Bay, while NAN staff participated by volunteering.

NAN Media Tour 2012 (Summer) - On June 7 and 8, 2012, Grand Chief Stan Beardy and Deputy Grand Chief Les Louttit accompanied local and national media on a tour of 4 NAN First Nation communities.

Big Bike for Heart and Stroke Event - On Friday, May 25, 2012, NAN participated in a fundraise event for the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Spring Chiefs Assembly 2012 - On May 15, 16, and 17, 2012, NAN Chiefs gathered in Cochrane for the annual Spring Chiefs Assembly.

Attawapiskat Visit - On Friday, February 3, 2012, NAN's Economic Development Department attended the Mushkegowuk Housing Conference in Attawapiskat First Nation.

Wunnumin Lake Visit - On Tuesday, March 27, 2012, NAN staff along with government and industry representatives for the Broadband project travelled to Wunnumin Lake First Nation to meet with the band's Chief and Council, as well as tour the Broadband work site.

Crown-First Nations Gathering - On January 24, 2012, First Nation representatives met with the Prime Minister in a history meeting in Ottawa. This meeting is a direct result of a call from First Nations to meet with the Crown.

NAN Media Tour - On January 17-18, 2012, Grand Chief Stan Beardy and Deputy Grand Chief Les Louttit accompanied local and national media on a tour of 5 NAN First Nation communities to bring awareness to the housing and infrastructure issues in NAN territory.

Tuition Rally - On February 1, 2012, A group of students at Lakehead University gathered for a rally to protest rising tuition rates.

Oshkaatisak Niigaan Oji Gathering - On February 7-9, 2012, NAN welcomed youth representatives from each NAN community for the Oshkaatisak Niigaan Oji Gathering at the Best Western Nor’Wester. The Oshkaatisak Council (formerly “Decade for Youth”) is comprised of a group of young people from various NAN communities who are committed to increasing the quality of life in First Nation communities today and in the future.

India- From March 4-7, 2012, Grand Chief Stan Beardy and NAN Elder Sam Achneepineskum attended the 4th Council of the Elders in Haridwar, India. The purpoes was to exchange customs and traditions with Indigenous tribes from all over the world.
