Our program logo was developed by Wayne Sawanus of Deer Lake First Nation. He interprets the logo as,

"Traditional closeness between Elders, Parents and the Children gave the Child exposure to the same values their parents were raised by.

Grandmothers look on as the Children uplift the Grandchild, in celebration of the well being of the Infant."

Wayne Sawanus is from Deer Lake First Nation which is a small Oji-Cree community that holds 1654 hectares of land located approximately 180 km north of Red Lake, Ontario. It has an on-reserve population of about 1100 and a total membership of 1200. It is accessible year round by air and by ice road. It is connected to Sandy Lake First Nation and and North Spirit Lake First Nation.
