NAN REMAINS OPPOSED TO FIRST NATIONS EDUCATION ACT, WILL NOT PARTICIPATE IN ‘CONSULTATION’

MATTAGAMI FIRST NATION, ONTARIO (April 9, 2013) – Nishnawbe Aski Nation (NAN) Deputy Grand Chief Goyce Kakegamic stated unequivocally that NAN remains firmly opposed to the development and enactment of a First Nations Education Act despite today’s signing of a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on First Nation education with the Governments of Canada and Ontario.
