NAN CONGRATULATES NEWLY-ELECTED WOMEN’S COUNCIL
THUNDER BAY, ON (December 14, 2018): Nishnawbe Aski Nation (NAN) Deputy Grand Chief Derek Fox, on behalf of the Executive Council, congratulates newly-elected members of the NAN Women’s Council.
“We value the NAN Women’s Council and the work that they do to be caregivers, leaders and address issues faced by our men, women and children,” said Deputy Grand Chief Derek Fox. “We look forward to great discussion on how we can keep our youth safe on and off reserve and continue to empower our communities.
Elected to the NAN Women’s Council yesterday during the NAN Women’s Gathering are:

The Women’s Council represents women and families in the governance of Nishnawbe Aski Nation. The primary purpose of this leadership role is to ensure that women’s issues, family issues, concerns, priorities and needs are identified and addressed within Nishnawbe Aski Nation.
The Council honours its leadership role by participating in the decision-making process of NAN as representatives and participants at Chiefs Assemblies, providing support and direction to the Executive Council on women’s issues, working to support the collective needs of women’s issues, concerns and priorities.
