NAN EXECUTIVE CONGRATULATES RESIDENTIAL SCHOOL SURVIVOR TRAILBLAZER GARNET ANGECONEB
THUNDER BAY: Nishnawbe Aski Nation (NAN) Executive Council congratulates Garnet Angeconb from Lac Seul First Nation on his recent award to the Order of Canada for his national work in leading the charge to have the federal government acknowledge and apologize to the country’s residential school survivors.
“Garnet was a pivotal person in the movement to get residential school survivors compensation and a federal apology,” said NAN Grand Chief Harvey Yesno. “His work is recognized and greatly appreciated by the Nishnawbe Aski Nation members and the Indigenous community across Canada. He is a true survivor and an inspiration.”
