NAN YOUTH NAMED TO PRIME MINISTER’S ADVISORY COUNCIL

THUNDER BAY, ON (January 26, 2017): Nishnawbe Aski Nation (NAN) Deputy Grand Chief Anna Betty Achnepineskum, on behalf of the Executive Council, congratulates Riley Yesno of Eabametoong First Nation for being chosen for the Prime Minister’s Youth Advisory Council:

“We are pleased to congratulate Riley Yesno for being named to the Prime Minister’s Youth Advisory Council and are very proud of her. It is very important that the voices of our youth are heard by the Prime Minister and the Government of Canada, and we are confident that Riley will be a strong voice for the youth of Nishnawbe Aski Nation. This council is a great way for young people from across the country to have a direct relationship with the Prime Minister, and we look forward to hearing their ideas on how to improve the lives of Indigenous youth and all young people in Canada.”

On June 13, 2016 a delegation of 22 youth from across NAN territory presented a Youth Declaration to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau asserting their rights as Indigenous People.
