The Next 100 Years: Commemorating the Centennial of James Bay Treaty 9 - Throughout the summers of 2005 and 2006 the First Nation people of Nishnawbe Aski territory commemorated the centennial of James Bay Treaty 9 by welcoming neighbours, First Nation leaders, and government representatives into thier homes and communities to recognize the historic anniversary.

The focus of this two year commemoration was on the future and the development of a new relationship with treaty partners - governments of Canada and Ontario - to ensure The Next 100 Years will lead to improved opportunity and quality of life for the people and communities of Nishnawbe Aski.

Commemorative and educational events marking the 100th anniversary renew hope that James Bay Treaty 9 will be implemented in ways that all treaty partners benefit.
